A youth fishing rodeo will be held at the North Mississippi Fish Hatchery and Visitor Education Center at Enid on Saturday, October 24.  This free event is for children ages 15 and younger. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and fishing will continue until 11:00 a.m.
The Visitor Education Center pond will be stocked with catfish just for this youth activity. Young anglers will be provided with rods, reels and bait, but should bring their own container to take their catch home.

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks is offering several informational seminars throughout the state. The first seminar is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24 at the Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Center of Arts and Education in Ocean Springs. The address for the event is 1600 Government Street. The event is open to the public and will cover a variety of topics. The seminar agenda includes the MDWFP’s deer program, bear program, alligator program, turkey hatch update, agency youth programs, dove hunting regulations and an update on Buccaneer State Park. This is the final year of restocking for the Pascagoula river on the coast and the wildlife post will have stocked about 15000 fingerlings this year.
